The Kathmandu District Court has granted bail to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Arnico Panday.
On Friday, a bench of Judge Dhruba Raj Karki at the Kathmandu District Court ordered Panday to be released on a bail of Rs 20,000, according to Superintendent of Police Deepak Raj Awasthi, spokesperson for the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
Panday had visited the Cyber Bureau on Wednesday after being accused of offenses under Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act.
After recording Panday’s statement on Wednesday, the Cyber Bureau submitted its report to the District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, on Thursday.
The District Government Attorney’s Office filed a case against Panday at the court on Friday morning, following which it was scheduled for a hearing.
A woman had filed a complaint against Panday at the Cyber Bureau on July 28, accusing him of using abusive language against her via Gmail.
An arrest warrant was issued for Panday on August 21, after which the police had begun searching for him.
