Durga Prasai announces decision to form new political party

Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has announced plans to form a new political party.

Organizing a press conference at his residence in Bhaktapur on Monday, Prasai said that he has decided to establish a political party.

“It is mandatory to form a political party under the current governance system. Therefore, I have decided to establish a political party to build political strength,” he said.

He also said that his involvement in politics as a businessman was not a desire but a necessity.

“We have been compelled to engage in politics to bring about reforms in the deteriorating political, economic, and social conditions caused by politics. Therefore, for the transformation of the nation and its citizens, for national sovereignty, stability, employment, good governance, and for the protection of the nation, nationality, religion, culture, and citizens, I and my colleagues in our campaign have resolved to form a political party and participate in politics,” he added.
