Chief Minister of Sudur Paschim province Kamal Bahadur Shah is set to take a vote of confidence on Thursday.
Chief Minister Shah has decided to seek a vote of confidence as the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has withdrawn its support to the government.
Bikram Singh Dhami, chief whip of the Nepali Congress, said that Chief Minister Shah will seek a vote of confidence during the provincial assembly meeting on July 31.
He also said that the party has already issued a whip to its lawmakers to vote in favor of Chief Minister Shah.
Shah was appointed chief minister with the support of CPN-UML. However, Shah lost his two-thirds majority after the NUP withdrew its support to his government on July 4.
The party withdrew its support, accusing Chief Minister Shah of dismissing its minister, Rameshwar Chaudhary. Chaudhary was alleged to have been involved in irregularities in the distribution of hand tractors.
