Mukunda Shyam Giri has approached the Election Commission after being removed from the posts of party vice-president and central committee member by Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden.
Lingden relieved Giri of his responsibilities as vice-president and central committee member on Friday.
Giri had issued a statement against Lingden on Thursday, accusing him of acting arbitrarily by taking action against Nawaraj Subedi and Sagun Sundar Lawati.
Lingden had removed Subedi as disciplinary committee chairman and Lawati as party spokesperson on July 9. Subedi and Lawati had already approached the Election Commission, demanding reinstatement.
Giri has also demanded his reinstatement as party vice-chairman, stating that Chairman Lingden removed him from his positions in violation of the party’s statute and without providing an opportunity for clarification.
Giri visited the Election Commission on Sunday along with General Secretaries Dhawal Shumsher Rana and Kuntikumari Shahi and others.
Lingden has been removing nominated office-bearers, claiming that those he nominated were forming factions and not cooperating with him.
