The House of Representatives has passed the Appropriation Bill (Budget).
The proposal tabled by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel to pass the bill was approved by a majority of the House on Tuesday.
The government has brought a budget of Rs 1.96 trillion for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26). It includes Rs 1.18 trillion (60.1%) for recurrent expenditure, Rs 407.89 billion (20.8%) for capital expenditure, and Rs 375.24 billion (19.1%) for debt financing.
Similarly, Rs 417.83 billion has been allocated for transfer to the provinces and local bodies.
The budget plans to generate Rs 1.31 trillion through revenues, Rs 53.45 billion through foreign grant and generate the remaining amount of Rs 595.66 billion through foreign loans (Rs 233.66 billion) and domestic borrowing (Rs 362 billion).
This budget will come into effect from July 17.
