A complaint has been filed against Metmani Chaudhary, lawmaker and deputy general secretary of the CPN (Unified Socialist), at the District Police Office, Dang.
Superintendent of Police Arjun Prasad Timilsina, chief of the District Police Office, said that a complaint regarding a dishonored check was received via post on Wednesday.
“A complaint about a dishonored check has been received through the post. We are discussing the matter,” he said.
According to a high-ranking source at the Lumbini Province Police Office, the complaint against Chaudhary involves a dishonored check of Rs 54 million from Everest Bank.
Police said that the complaint was filed by contractor Dhat Budhamagar from Rolpa.
The police have summoned the complainant to the office to verify the complaint received via post.
“The process involves summoning the complainant for verification. Once verified, the investigation will proceed as per regular procedure,” the source said, adding, “It is said that the check was dishonored due to a signature mismatch. We are looking into it.”
When contacted for comment, Chaudhary did not answer the phone.
Chaudhary was elected as a House of Representatives member from Dang Constituency No. 1 in the last general election.
