The House of Representatives meeting has been postponed until Thursday afternoon.
Posting a notice on Wednesday afternoon, the Federal Parliament Secretariat postponed the House meeting until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Originally scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the meeting started nearly two hours late and was postponed after opposition parties obstructed proceedings.
Opposition parties have been obstructing the House of Representatives meetings since Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa scandal.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made efforts to end the deadlock in the House. Home Minister Lekhak had sought time to speak in the House on Wednesday, but the opposition obstructed the session.
Home Minister Lekhak is set to hold a press conference at 5 p.m. on Wednesday to address the visit visa scandal and other matters.
Opposition parties have said that they will not obstruct the presentation of the budget on Thursday.
