The next meeting of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Tuesday's meeting was postponed after posting a notice.
According to the secretariat of Speaker Devraj Ghimire, the House meeting has been postponed until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The meeting on Tuesday, originally called for 11 a.m., started after some delay.
During the session, opposition parties including the CPN (Maoist Center), the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) insisted that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak must resign over the visit visa scandal and pave the way for investigation into the matter.
As the opposition parties obstructed parliamentary proceedings demanding the home minister’s resignation, the meeting was adjourned for half an hour. Later, another notice was posted, extending the adjournment until 2:30 p.m. In the meantime, Speaker Ghimire held discussions with the chief whips of both the ruling and opposition parties in an effort to resolve the matter.
While the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML demanded that the home minister be allowed to speak in the House, Maoist Center and RSP insisted that the home minister must resign first.
As the deadlock remained unresolved, the House meeting was adjourned until Wednesday.
