The Nepal-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group held its first meeting on Monday.
The group’s inaugural meeting, held at the Singha Durbar, was coordinated by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.
The meeting decided to make the parliamentary friendship group more active and effective with the objective of further strengthening the long-standing relationship between Nepal and the UK.
During the meeting, the participating lawmakers discussed various dimensions of Nepal-UK relations. Coordinator Shrestha said that the group will prioritize regular dialogues, exchange of experiences, and programs for enhancing mutual understanding between lawmakers of both countries in the coming days.
The meeting also expressed commitment to deepening the historical ties between Nepal and the UK while moving forward to institutionalize and strengthen parliamentary diplomacy.
The group is preparing to carry out planned activities in the coming days with a strategy to work in the interests of both countries.
