The District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, has filed cases against 61 individuals in connection with the violent protest that took place in Tinkune of Kathmandu on March 28.
The government attorney registered the cases in the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday.
Additionally, cases against four minors are scheduled to be filed in the Juvenile Court on Monday.
Among the 61 individuals, 50 are being prosecuted for sedition and 11 others for criminal mischief.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice-chairman Rabindra Mishra and RPP General Secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana are also among those being tried for sedition.
Similarly, cases have been filed against eight individuals, including Durga Prasai, for attempted murder.
The District Police Range, Kathmandu, had recommended filing cases against 108 individuals, with some recommendations made without specifying identities or addresses.
Police had investigated them for organized crime.
