Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba held talks with Tanaka Akihiko, president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on Friday.
During the meeting held at JICA’s headquarters in Tokyo, Minister Rana and Akihiko discussed bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan and various topics of mutual interest.
Minister Rana expressed gratitude on behalf of Nepal for the long-standing support provided by the government of Japan through JICA in Nepal’s economic, social and other sectors.
She commended JICA’s assistance in economic growth and poverty reduction, disaster risk reduction and climate change measures, and good governance and strengthening democracy through its Basic Policy of Assistance in Nepal.
Minister Rana also lauded the recent support extended by the Japanese government through JICA in various projects, including the construction of the Nagdhunga Tunnel and the reconstruction and maintenance of the Sindhuli-Bardibas road.
During the meeting, Minister Rana and Akihiko also discussed Nepal-Japan relations, JICA’s ongoing support to Nepal, climate change and its impacts, disaster management, good governance, and issues concerning senior citizens.
