The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Nepali students facing difficulties in Pakistan due to the prolonged India-Pakistan tensions to contact the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad.
In a press release issued on Friday, the ministry said that the government is fully alert to ensuring the safety and interests of Nepali students and other Nepali citizens in Pakistan amid recent developments.
"In light of recent developments, the Government of Nepal is fully alert to ensuring the safety and interests of Nepali students and other Nepalis in Pakistan. For this purpose, the Nepali Embassy in Pakistan is constantly in contact with all Nepali students and citizens there and working accordingly," the ministry said.
"If any immediate additional assistance is required regarding this matter, Nepali students, their parents, relatives, and other Nepalis there can contact the Nepali Embassy in Islamabad at the following numbers at any time," the ministry added.
The ministry also informed that Brinda Subedi Khadka and Arsalan Mehmood are the designated contact persons of the embassy in Islamabad.
Twenty-six people, including one Nepali, were killed in a terrorist attack on tourists in the Pulwama region of Indian Kashmir on April 22. India has been targeting terrorist hideouts in retaliation, while Pakistan has also been responding to India’s strikes, escalating tensions between the two countries.
During the Parliament meeting on Friday, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) urged the government to immediately rescue 80 Nepali students in Pakistan who had come into contact with the party.
Nepali students in India near the Pakistan border are also awaiting rescue amid the rising tensions.
