Leftist leader Pradeep Nepal has passed away.
Nepal, a former minister, died at Norvic Hospital at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, a hospital source said. He was 71.
He had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and other ailments for a long time.
As his condition worsened, he became inactive in politics.
Nepal was born in 1953. He served as the minister for communications in 1994 when the then CPN-UML chairman Manmohan Adhikari was the prime minister. Later, he also served as the education minister.
He was part of the coordination center committee formed in Dhanusha in 1978. After that, he continuously remained in the party's central committee.
However, he could no longer remain active in politics after 2014 because of his health.
