The Province 1 government has decided to split some existing ministries to raise the number of ministries to 12 from seven.
The number of ministries will rise after the Cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to amend the regulation about allocation of Cabinte ministries. The government, however, has yet ot officially announce the decision to raise the number of ministries.
Speaking after the Cabinet meeting on Sunday, Minister for Economic Affars and Planning Tanka Angbo revealed only the other decisions taken by the meeting.
The government will split social development; land reform, agriculture and cooperatives; physical infrastructure development; and industry, tourism, forest and environment ministries, according to a Cabinet source. "The Cabinet will be expanded accordingly in a few days," the source added. "The regulation has been amended remaining within the limits set by the Constitution."
Five ministries will be added in the province after this decision to take the total number of ministries to 12.
The government was alleged of preparing to raise the number of ministries for sharing of spoils among the coalition parties for some time.
