Ruling CPN has instructed to make Dang the capital of Province 5 after Chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal agreed to that regard.
A central committee member told Setopati that the two chairmen have instructed the party's Province 5 committee to make Dang the provincial capital. "I have heard that the two chairmen have issued circular. They have instructed Province 5 incharge to make Dang the Province 5 capital," the leader stated. "The fact that the party incharge is also the chief minister of the province will also make implementation easier."
Shankar Pokharel is both the chief minister (CM) and provincial incharge of ruling CPN.
There is a big dispute in the ruling party about whether to make Dang or Butwal the provincial capital. CPN General Secretary Bishnu Paudel was elected to the federal parliament from Butwal while CM Pokharel is from Dang.
Both Paudel and Pokharel are close to Oli and they want their respective constituencies to be made provincial capital. Dahal's confidant Barsha Man Pun, who was elected to the federal parliament from Rolpa, is also in favor of Dang.
Butwal is the temporary provincial capital now. The party has yet to decide about name of the province despite agreeing on the capital.
