The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the parliament has instructed the government to make arrangements for PCR tests in all 77 districts.
The committee's meeting held on Friday through video conferencing has also drawn the government's attention to expand contact tracing.
The committee held discussion with Acting Secretary of the Health Ministry Roshan Pokharel, Director General of the Department of Health Services Dipendra Raman Singh and Director of Disease Control Division Basu Dev Pandey during the meeting.
Chairman of the committee Krishna Bhakta Pokharel after the meeting also instructed the government to make arrangements for 10,000 ventilators and intensive care unit (ICU) beds across the country, and to immediately start recruitment of skilled personnel necessary to operate the ventilators.
It has recommended the government to increase the number of COVID-19 dedicated hospitals, and instructed to take necessary precautions if COVID-19 patients have to be treated in non-dedicated hospitals.
It has concluded that using private hospitals and medical colleges for COVID-19 treatment by providing resources from the government would be appropriate.
It has also urged the government to provide incentives and insurance coverage to health and security personnel deployed for control of the pandemic to boost their morale.
