CPN Senior Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who has allied with Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal against Chairman and Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli, has assured there will be no vertical split in the party.
There have been fears that Oli may split the party if he were forced to resign especially with Oli explicitly issuing such threats. But speaking at a program to mark the death anniversary of CPN founder Pushpa Lal Shrestha on Friday, Nepal has allayed such fears.
"CPN will not split. It may splinter if someone wishes to but it will not split," he stated. He again took swipe without taking name of Oli who has mobilized his cadres to paint himself as indispensable for the country and nationalism.
"Let's not remain in delusion that 'I am the state and the world will be derailed without me.' Let there be no efforts to finish the communist movement with oneself. Let's imagine to move forward in a new manner. It is almost late to do that."
He also implicitly accused Oli of running the party as a fief and warned that nobody will remain as slave. "Nobody will remain slave of others. Nobody will remain holding the head saying this is fate. Policy and ideology are the main things. The party must be run in accordance to system and procedure."
He also urged Oli, who is in overwhelming minority inside the party and has been threatening to defy party decision, to honor party decision. "The decision of majority is party decision. Let us all honor that. Let us all gain wisdom that nobody can defy it. It will be in everybody's interest."
Nepal had also taken a swipe on Oli on Wednesday stating in a statement that the party does not believe in any supernatural or miraculous leadership and is an institution that believes in the system of collective leadership.
