President Bidya Devi Bhandari has prorogued the ongoing budget session of the federal parliament in less than 90 minutes of the Cabinet recommendation to that regard.
The Cabinet meeting that started at 12:30 Thursday afternoon took the decision to write to the president recommending prorogation of the budget session. The letter of President Bhandari informing about prorogation reached the federal parliament before two in the afternoon.
The House session in normal time ends effective from midnight and the president's letter to that regard is read during the House meeting. But the Cabinet this time has recommended prorogation effective from five Thursday evening.
The National Assembly meeting was on when the president's letter arrived.
