Former prime minister (PM) Baburam Bhattarai has asked PM KP Sharma Oli why he has not sought explanation from the Indian ambassador for conspiring to topple his government.
"PM says an envoy of a country is conspiring to oust him. Why is he a mere spectator if that is so? Why doesn't he call the envoy for explanation? Why doesn't he expel the envoy immediately?" Bhattarai said addressing a protest program against the citizenship bill organized by Janata Samajwadi Party in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Addressing a program organized in Baluwatar on Sunday to mark the birth anniversary of Madan Bhandari, PM Oli had claimed the media and intellectual discourse in Delhi, activities of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and meetings in hotels show what is being done to remove him.
"My government was earlier toppled after signing transit agreement with China but we have majority now. Nobody should think of removing KP Oli who has showed temerity to issue map by claiming our territory," he stated. "Let those who are trying try. Nobody should be in a haste. I don’t want to remain with responsibility of PM. But there will be nobody to speak for Nepal if I were to leave now. It's not for today but for tomorrow. Not for me but the country."
Bhattarai also accused Oli of not taking the COVID-19 pandemic seriously. "PM brings bill to split parties. He amuses the whole world telling the House that coronavirus can be blown away by sneezing at other times," he pointed.
He also demanded equality between men and women on the issue of naturalized citizenship. He pointed that the issue of citizenship is a national issue and not just that of Madhes and stressed that nobody should be treated as second-class citizens.
