Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has warned India to not try to topple his government for issuing the new map.
Addressing a program organized in Baluwatar on Sunday to mark the birth anniversary of Madan Bhandari, he claimed the media and intellectual discourse in Delhi, activities of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and meetings in hotels show what is being done to remove him.
"My government was earlier toppled after signing transit agreement with China but we have majority now. Nobody should think of removing KP Oli who has showed temerity to issue map by claiming our territory," he stated. "Let those who are trying try. Nobody should be in a haste. I don’t want to remain with responsibility of PM. But there will be nobody to speak for Nepal if I were to leave now. It's not for today but for tomorrow. Not for me but the country."
He argued that Nepal will not face additional difficulties after issuing the new map as some fear. "What will be the difficulty when trying to take back the land that went? We could not use the land that we used for 146 years since 1962. It was taken away for 58 years. It is our territory. We have not encroached other's territory. No mistake has been made."
He pointed that there are many who debate in favor of India carrying Nepali citizenship certificates. "There is Nepali citizenship certificate in the pocket but arguments are made from the other side. How can there be relation with the citizens after the army was posted there in 1962? They have not allowed anyone to go there keeping army in Kalapani. Those with citizenship of Nepal are raising issues about who gave citizenship and ration card."
