The five foreigners arrested while demonstrating against the government have been banned from entering Nepal for two years.
The police had arrested seven foreigners demonstrating against the government from Maitighar on Saturday. One of them was released later after revelation that the person had reached the spot while wandering around the city and six others were handed over to the Immigration Department for further action.
Five of them excluding a Norwegian woman will be banned from Nepal for two years, according to investigating officer Baikuntha Regmi.
"The Norwegian woman was sort of Nepali citizen having married a Nepali man," Regmi stated. "The other five will be deported after the lockdown ends and will not be allowed to enter Nepal for two years."
The five persons include three Chinese nationals, one American and one Australian.
The department has released them on bail for now.
The three Chinese nationals and one American have been released on bail of Rs 10,000 each, the Australian on Rs 20,000 and the Norwegian on Rs 3,000. "We have sought a bigger bail from the Australian national whose activities were a bit unbecoming," Regmi reasoned.
