Janata Samajwadi lawmaker Sarita Giri has lodged an amendment on the Constitution amendment bill brought by the government stating that the areas of Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipu Lekh should be removed from the map as source and evidence have yet to be revealed.
The government has brought the amendment bill to change the coat of arms in Schedule-3 of the Constitution as per Article 9(2) to implement the new map.
Giri, a naturalized Nepali citizen having been borne and raised in India before marrying a Nepali man, has lodged an amendment saying clause (2) should be removed from the amendment bill.
She has been claiming that there is no evidence to prove that the area of Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipu Lekh belongs to Nepal. She has been slammed in the House by lawmakers for her statements.
She has registered the amendment despite Janata Samajwadi Party pledging to support the amendment bill during the deliberations on Tuesday.
