CPN Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha has urged Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to accumulate powers from Lord Pashupatinath and Lord Muktinath, and renounce Nepali territory encroached by India.
"You should pray to Lord Pashupatinath and Lord Muktinath. Accumulate powers. And promise you will correct the past attitude of capturing territory, and stand for truth and improve Nepal-India relations on that basis declaring that not even an inch of such sacred land should be encroached," Shrestha preached while speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
He added that doing so would not just bring accolades and gratitude toward Modi, but would also take the Nepal-India relation to additional height.
"You may remember an incident from Mahabharat. Queen of Dhritarashtra Gandhari refused to bless her son Duryodhan for victory when he came to seek blessings before going to fight in Kurukshetra. She did provide blessings but for victory over himself, victory over his ambitions against the truth inside him. She blessed him saying he should win over himself," Shrestha reminded Modi.
He pointed that Nepal does not wish to play one big neighbor against the other, and added that the country wants diplomatic dialogue to get back the encroached land.
"Why has a neighboring country encroached our territory? Why have we been subject to accusations when we said we should acquire that encroached land, we should be given back those land?" he asked. "Emotions and rage may run high at times. But diplomacy is the first line in the world. Let us not give in to rage and emotion. Let us resolve the problem through diplomatic dialogue."
