The House of Representatives (HoR) will shorten the discussion on budget this year.
The meeting of Business Advisory Committee of HoR on Sunday has decided to pass the budget within 10 days of it being presented in the House considering the risk of coronavirus.
Ministry-wise discussion would take a long time in the past and the parliament secretariat this year is preparing to cut that time by half. " Ministry-wise discussion would take 20 days in the past. The budget will be presented on May 28. It will be passed by June 8," a member of the Business Advisory Committee confided.
Parties have also discussed about the time for Constitution amendment. The government has registered Constitution amendment proposal to amend the schedule of the Constitution, wherein the map in the coat of arms does not include the territory including Limpiyadhura, to implement the new map.
The general secretary of the House should publish the proposal for public information five days after registration as per the procedure. But the government wants to finish amendment soon. The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), however, has advised the government to hold an all-party meeting for amendment.
"May the amendment proposal move forward on consensus. Let the government initiate all-party discussion," NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand said after the meeting. "Everyone wants that there is consensus in the procedure and while tabling it for decision."
The Business Advisory Committee is also preparing to change the logo of federal parliament and lawmakers to implement the new map. The secretariat is also planning to put Federal Parliament in writing at the bottom of the logo. The logo earlier did not have anything in writing.
The secretariat is preparing to complete changing of logo before the meeting of HoR and National Assembly before the meeting on Tuesday. The logo on the parliament's rostrum also needs to be changed.
