A Nepal Police DSP has been injured when Chinese nationals clashed with the police in the Singha Durbar Area on Friday.
DSP with the Metropolitan Police Circle Singha Durbar Hari Basnet sustained head injury during the clash that ensued when the Chinese nationals tried to enter the Singha Durbar.
"Police used force to take them under control after they tried to enter the Singha Durbar," SSP with the Metropolitan Police Range Shyam Gyawali told Setopati. Thirty-eight Chinese nationals have been arrested and kept at the municipal police office.
"They want to return to their country. They have been trying to return for a long time now. They had even gone to the embassy demanding they be sent home," Gyawali elaborated.
Many Chinese nationals have been stranded in Nepal due to the lockdown. The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu sent a few on a chartered flight but many are still in Nepal.
