Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has intensified meetings with CPN leaders even as the dispute in the ruling party exacerbates.
Yanqi has met senior leader and chief of the party's foreign department Madhav Kumar Nepal immediately after meeting CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's residence in Khumaltar Friday morning.
Deputy chief of the department Bishnu Rijal has tweeted that Yanqi and Nepal discussed different aspects of the close relation between the two countries during the meeting. He, however, has not elaborated about the different aspects.
She earlier met Dahal for almost an hour. She had also met Prime Minister (PM) and CPN Chairman KP Sharma Oli a few days back. A party source claimed that the meeting with Oli was quite a long one.
Internal dynamics in the ruling party is very fluid in recent times with CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal allying to oust Oli from Baluwatar.
A majority of standing committee members have urged the two chairman to convene standing committee meeting to review the government's performance.
Oli is trying to win over disgruntled lawmakers from Dahal-Nepal faction to forge a majority in the parliamentary party. The factions of both Oli, and that of Dahal and Nepal have started signature campaign among the party lawmakers to show they have majority in the parliamentary party.
Oli who has been cornered by the alliance of another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, and Vice-chairman Bam Dev Gautam Gautam against him on Wednesday proposed that Gautam be made the PM after the end of coornavirus pandemic. "Let's make him PM by amending the Constitution to allow even a National Assembly member the PM or by vacating any constituency and getting him elected from there," Oli proposed after Dahal demanded Oli's resignation at the start of the secretariat meeting.
