The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has said the government led by KP Sharma Oli has lost the political and moral grounds to govern.
The government has been continuously weakening the democratic norms and demolishing the spirit of the Constitution, the NC central committee meeting on Wednesday accused, and failed to appropriately manage the coronavirus crisis. "The government instead of doing appropriate management of the risky and serous situation of coronavirus pandemic is using this sensitive time as an opportunity to act against democratic norms," the meeting that finished Wednesday night concluded.
The party has also accused the government of ignoring and disrespecting the people's mandate. "The government's activities have extremely ignored and disrespected the mandate given by the people through the past election. This meeting, therefore, deems that the government led by CPN Chairman KP Sharma Oli has lost the political and moral grounds to govern."
Pointing at the endless series of corruption, NC has called corruption in even procurement of medical supplies unfortunate. "Issuing two controversial ordinances, direct involvement of the government in splitting a political party and resorting to abduction of a lawmaker, and refusing to even register compliant for investigation of such action are the latest incidents that establish the government's mal-intent," NC elaborates.
