The District Government Attorney Office is also dawdling about registering the abduction case against former Nepal Police IGP Sarbendra Khanal, and CPN lawmakers Mahesh Basnet and Kisan Shrestha.
Leaders of Janata Samjwadi Party reached the office at Babarmahal on Tuesday after the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu refused to register the abduction case on Sunday. "We are at the District Government Attorney Office. We are holding discussion. The office has yet to accept our complaint," party leader Keshav Jha told Setopati.
Lawmaker Surendra Yadav had reached the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu office in Teku Sunday afternoon to register the abduction case against the trio. But chief of the litigation section at the office DSP Krishna Chand initially asked Yadav to got to Mahottari to register the complaint stating that the incident occurred there.
DSP Chand also cited absence of the office chief for not registering the complaint. But SSP Shyam Gyawali, who has recently been transferred to Teku, also refused to register the case when he reached Teku just before the end of office hours to assume office.
Former prime minister and leader of Janata Samajwadi Party Baburam Bhattarai told reporters that SSP Gyawali outright refused to register the case without any consideration.
The party leaders insisted that the complaint be registered there as the trio had gone to Mahottari from Kathmandu, and Yadav is also currently in Kathmandu. They also pointed that it is not possible to go to Mahottari to lodge the complaint during the lockdown but to no avail.
Leaders of Janata Samajwadi Party, formed after the party's hasty unification with Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) in wake of the attempt to split the party, Baburam Bhattarai, Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato, Sharad Singh Bhandari and others had accompanied Surendra Yadav to Teku. Many of them have also accompanied Yadav to Babarmahal Tuesday.
Khanal, Basnet and Shrestha had brought Yadav from Mahottari to Kathmandu on Wednesday in what was accused by the party as abduction. Ex-IGP Khanal and former minister Basnet have claimed that they only facilitated arrival of Yadav to Kathmandu as per his plan.
Yadav was brought to Kathmandu at three Thursday morning and kept at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel with an intention to split Socialist Party with seven lawmakers. But Yadav absconded a few hours later to foil the plan seemingly engineered by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who had brought an ordinance on Monday making it easier to split political parties.
The rebel faction could not muster the necessary 40 percent in parliamentary party after Yadav absconded.
