CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has recommended an all-party high level mechanism to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
"I have even put this view to the prime minister and the party's secretariat meeting," Dahal said in an interview to Image Television on Thursday. "We must move toward fighting this by forming a structure including the ruling and opposition parties and important persons. I feel that kind of structure will instill confidence in the people. I have urged the PM and leaders of political parties to think about that."
He defended the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government. He also hinted at the irregularities in procurement of medical supplies and added that PM KP Sharma Oli has assured to probe that. "These issues were discussed even in our meeting. PM Oli has assured that any kind of weakness in the intervening period will be investigated," Dahal revealed. "I want that the mistakes, if there are any, be openly corrected."
He added that the secretariat members raised the lack of discussion between PM Oli and him. He revealed that he urged PM Oli to invite him for discussion about the disenchantment in the people in appropriate time."I have told him that I deem we should talk openly. He has also felt the need to talk openly."
