Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Hridayesh Tripathi has urged people to only distribute relief materials in coordination with local bodies.
"We have made utmost efforts to ensure that relief materials are distributed through one-door system," Minister Tripathi told Setopati. "We take people's wish to be clicked while distributing relief materials normally. But we have not allowed people to do this without informing the local bodies. We will stop if that is happening anywhere."
He claimed that the social media would have been replete with photos of people distributing relief materials without intervention by the local bodies.
Pointing the risk of duplication while distributing without coordination with the local bodies, which has the actual data for needs of each family, he urged people to coordinate with them. "There will not be proportional distribution if some donors donate only to 40 families in a ward where 300 families may need that. We have been successful to a great extent in indiscriminate distribution of relief materials that happened at the time of earthquake."
He revealed that those distributing materials in coordination with the local bodies and in presence of elected people's representatives will not be stopped from clicking photographs.
