The government is preparing to extend the one-week nationwide lockdown.
The high-level coordination committee to fight coronavirus pandemic headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwore Pokharel had taken the decision for nationwide lockdown on Monday. The government a day earlier had also decided to shut down all border points with India and China.
"The coordination committee will study all the reports and additional decision will be taken on that basis," a minister told Setopati. "Activities in the past week show that the lockdown will have to be extended.
The high-level coordination committee will hold a meeting in the Singha Durbar Sunday afternoon to discuss the lockdown and other issues related to the pandemic.
The Cabinet meeting in Baluwatar after that will announce a special relief package for those affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
