Uma Kanta Chaudhary has resigned from the discipline committee of Nepali Congress led by Bhisma Raj Angdembe.
Chaudhary, who should have sent the resignation to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba through Angdembe, has submitted the resignation to leader of his faction Krishna Sitaula instead.
Chaudhary had been appointed in the committee on quota for the Sitaula faction, and he has resigned after Sitaula demanded so, according to a party source.
Situala has yet to submit the resignation letter to Deuba.
Angdembe expressed ignorance about Chaudhary's resignation. "I am at the party office. I have not received any information about the resignation," he told Setopati.
Chaudhary, who was made member of the committee 11 months back, could not be reached by Setopati for comments.
Party sources claim that Sitaula is angry after the committee started the process to take disciplinary action against party chief in Dadeldhura Karna Malla and others, and asked Chaudhary to resign.
Deuba had formed the committee last April including Angdembe, Kishore Singh Rathour and Devendra Raj Kandel from his faction. Dhan Raj Gurung was later added from Ram Chandra Paudel faction and Chaudhary from the Sitaula faction.
