CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said Prime Minister |(PM) KP Sharma Oli will implement the secretariat's decision to recommend the party Vice-chairman Bam Dev Gautam to the National Assembly.
"General secretary and the party spokesperson have already made the decision public. PM will honor the decision," Dahal, who reached his home district Chitwan to participate in a program, said Friday. "You will know in a couple of days. He will and must honor the decision."
He added that he cannot even imagine Oli not recommending Gautam. "What I understand is, he will do that. I don't want to think about what will happen if the PM does not recommend," he pointed. "The meeting chaired jointly by me and the PM had taken the decision unanimously."
The secretariat meeting on February 19 had decided that the Cabinet will recommend Gautam to the National Assembly. But Oli has said he will not accept the decision and will again recommend the current Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada. The two-year term of Khatiwada, who was nominated to the National Assembly on recommendation of the Cabinet, is expiring on March 4.
The party is in turmoil due to the dispute about whether to recommend Khatiwada or Gautam to the National Assembly.
Senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal held discussion with Dahal at his residence in Khumaltar even Friday morning.
Dahal's comment in Chitwan after the meeting shows they are adamant on taking Gautam to the National Assembly.
CPN General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, meanwhile, has reached Gautam's residence in Bhainsepati for discussion. Gautam could not attend the meeting at Dahal's residence in the morning due to flu.
