Nine Indian police personnel who entered Nepal in uniform on Wednesday were taken under control and sent back after questioning.
A team of the Area Police Office Chisapani in Kailali took them under control on Wednesday from Chisapani after hearing about their entry in uniform.
They were apparently deployed for a program in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh and entered Nepal after the program to be attended by a minister was cancelled. They reached Kailali through Banke and Bardiya on an Indian vehicle.
"They apparently knew about Visit Nepal Year 202 and had entered Nepal assuming that Karnali bridge would be nearby," DSP with Kailali Police Daksha Kumar Basnet told Setopati. "We sent them back yesterday itself after questioning."
The Karnali bridge, however, is around 96 kilometers away from Nepalgunj and the uniformed Indian policemen had to cross multiple security checkpoints to reach Chisopani.
DSP Basnet claimed that the Indian policemen had entered Nepal leaving their weapons at the border point.
The video of Indian policemen in uniform was streamed live on Facebook and many watched that video.
