CPN Chairman and former Maoist supremo Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he can take responsibility of only 5,000 lives and not 17,000 killed during the decade-long conflict.
Addresing a program organized by the Tharu community at Tundikhel Kathmandu on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti on Wednesday, Dahal stated blaming him for 17,000 lives would be unfair. "Many things have been aid targeting me. It is not true that I came killing 17,000 people," he argued. "What is true is that the state killed 12,000 peope. I take responsibility for 5,000 and the kings of yesterday should take that for 12,000. Saying that even thoe killed by the state were killed by me would not be fair."
He conceded that he takes responsibility for good and bad things that happened during the time of conflict. "But I will not take responsibility for what I did not do."
