Upendra Yadav has finally taken charge at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Monday.
He was transferred from the Health Ministry to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs by Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli during the Cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday.
Socialist Party Nepal had protested the reshuffle and changing of his portfolio citing that the coalition partner was not consulted before the reshuffle.
Yadav was in India during the reshuffle.
He, however, commented that Cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative of PM while assuming office at the new ministry on Monday. He stated that his experience at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will make him more experienced.
PM Oli had sacked six ministers and three state ministers, and replaced them with new faces during the Cabinet reshuffle.
Hridayesh Tripathi, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Lekhraj Bhatta, Rameswar Raya Yadav, Basanta Kumar Nembang and Parbat Gurung are the new ministers while Moti Lal Dugad, Nawaraj Rawat and Rambir Manandhar are new state ministers.
Raghubir Mahaseth (Physical Infrastructure and Transport), Lal Babu Pandit (Federal Affairs and Local Development), Tham Maya Thapa (Women, Children and Senior Citizens), Chakrapani Khanal (Agriculture), Matrika Yadav (Industry, Commerce and Supplies) and Gokarna Bista (Labor, Employment and Social Securities) were sacked along with state ministers Surendra Yadav (Health), Dhan Bahadur Buda (Tourism) and Raj Kumari Chaudhary (Agriculture).
Deputy PM Yadav (Health) and Bhanubhakta Dhakal (Law) swapped their ministries.
