Sarlahi incharge of Netra Bikram Chand led CPN has died in gunfight with the police in Lalbandi, Sarlahi on Thursday. District incharge Kumar Paudel was killed on the spot, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Bishwo Raj Pokharel. The clash happened near Lakhandehi river in Lalbandi municipality 1. He claimed that the police fired in defense after four Chand cadres travelling on two motorcycles opened fire on the police. "The gunfight started after the police following the Chand cadres were attacked with guns," he stated. "The clash continued as the Chand cadres tried to enter the jungle firing at the police." A sixer revolver, six bullets of 303 rifle, and a home-made pistol were recovered from Paudel while the other three escaped, according to Pokharel.
