Top leaders of the ruling CPN are meeting to conclude division of responsibilities in the party.
Chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, General Secretary Bishnu Paudel and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal are meeting at the prime minister's residence in Baluwatar to forge consensus before the secretariat meeting scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, according to a Baluwatar source.
CPN has not been able to decide about leadership of different departments including organization, finance, publicity and party school with multiple leaders wishing for single position.
The top leaders have not been able to decide with some secretariat members claiming for the organization department. Paudel and Nepal, who are both participating in the ongoing meeting, also want to lead the organization department.
The party had scheduled to complete division of responsibilities within three months while announcing unification on May 17 last year but has not been able to do so in more than a year.
The Baluwatar source claimed that the secretariat meeting will be convened in the afternoon only if the four leaders forge some sort of consensus during the ongoing meeting. The secretariat meeting called for Monday was also postponed after the top leaders failed to reach consensus.
