Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has convened an emergency meeting of security chiefs following efforts by CPN led by Netra Bikram Chand to attack the police post in Chheska, Solukhumbu and evacuation of the post.
Chiefs of Nepal Police, Armed Police Office (APF), National Investigation Department and senior Home Ministry officials are taking part in the emergency meeting that has been called a regular one.
A ministry source confirmed with Setopati that the meeting has been convened to prepare strategy to stop possible attack by Chand-led CPN.
A police team led by DSP Shalik Ram Sharma of District Police Office has already reached Chheska which is 75 kilometers away from district headquarters Salleri.
The police post in Chheska with six-strong team led by Assistant Sub-inspector Hira Prasad Devkota has already been evacuated Sunday night.
A big group of CPN cadres had reached the police post Sunday night but the police personnel were already evacuated to a safe place before that. The CPN cadres returned back after finding the post empty.
Police have sought MI-17 helicopter of the Nepal Army (NA) for aerial patrol in Solukhumbu. The chopper has been kept on standby, according to an NA source.
