Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday.
The two leaders met at the Hyderabad House in the morning. "
Both leaders expressed their commitment in further deepening relations, in particular between the peoples of our countries," Spokesperson at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar tweeted. PM Oli gifted a rudrakhsa garland to Modi during the meeting.
Modi was sworn in for the second term as Indian PM Thursday evening. Oli had reached New Delhi Thursday afternoon to participate in the swearing-in ceremony.
Modi, who had invited heads of state/government of the SAARC countries for swearing-in ceremony for the first term, had invited BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries--that include Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Srilanka, Thailand and Bhutan—this time.
President of Kyrgyzstan and prime minister of Mauritius were invited, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. But neighbor Pakistan was not invited. The then Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif had attended the swearing-in of Modi five years back.
