Nepali Congress (NC) has yet to print the party statute almost three months after the end of mahasamiti meeting.
The party during the mahasamiti meeting held from January 13-23 had said the statute has been sent to the press for printing. The meeting originally scheduled for five days was extended as it could not settle the issue of number of office-bearers and members at the central level and nature of party membership among others.
President Sher Bahadur Deuba had finally forged consensus with senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel and former general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and raised the number of office-bearers to 14 from eight.
The party had said the statute will be printed and distributed to the participants during the mahasamiti meeting but the statute has yet to be printed. NC leaders and cadres alike do not know about the provisions kept in the statute.
Chief secretary at central office Krishna Prasad Paudel said the party is preparing to send the statute to the press for printing. "We currently only have two copies of statute, one for the central committee and the other to send to the press," he stated.
He claimed that printing of the statute will be completed by April end.
