The Province 1 government has allocated Rs 5 million to organize Kumbha Mela at Chatara.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday will inaugurate the month-long Kumbha Mela being organized on initiation of Bal Santa Maharaj who has been staying at Chatara to promote Hinduism.
The provincial government has formed a coordination committee under Internal Affairs and Law Minister Hikmat Bahadur Karki to organize the Kumbha Mela.
The government has allocated the amount through the internal resources received from sharing of revenues. "We have decided to provide the amount from revenue sharing for Kumbha Mela," Finance Minister Indra Angbuhang said.
The amount collected from revenue sharing is meant to be spent by provincial governments at times of natural disasters like floods, landslides and storms. The Province 1 government has allocated the amount from the fund.
The government, however, will not get any share in the fund collected in charity and donations during the Kumbha Mela despite taking responsibility of organizing it.
