Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the coming 15th periodic plan would build the foundation to transform Nepal from underdeveloped to developed country.
Concluding the two-day meeting of the National Development Council here Thursday, he said political stability has brought about acceleration in economic development process.
Also Chairman of the NDC, Prime Minister Oli said the plan would be finalized by including the recommendations from the stakeholders on its base paper and it needs to be interpreted as the first federal plan rather than a five-year plan.
"At the end of this plan period, there shall be at least 50 per cent rise in national production and the next plan would give momentum to economic progress of the country," he said.
He also pointed out the need to opt for renewal energy in order to protect environment. "Nepal can lead the world in promotion of peace and environment protection," Oli said.
The Prime Minister also said even though the people had made the Prime Minister powerful in a federal system, he had no interest in power but only in development of the country and transformation of its people.
"And I have a vision and mission for it as well," he added.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli, in his capacity as the Chair of the Council, announced that the basis paper of the plan had been endorsed by the Council.
