Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has said the government is closely watching the activities of Netra Bikram Chand led CPN and warned of action.
Addressing the provincial assembly of the Far West in Dhangadi Wednesday morning, he said it is a crime to try to spread violence in the name of revolution when a party with majority is working with a clear vision and policies.
"Stopping construction of hydropower projects, and indulging in arson and extortion is a game of taking the country down. The government will not remain silent about such things that take the country down," he stated.
Pointing at the arson by Chand's cadres at the office of Arun III project recently, he said such activities will damage the relationship with India, and is part of a conspiracy to stop foreign investment in the country. "Terrorizing the people without any reason, and sending the wrong message to the international community and trying to stop foreign investment cannot be acceptable to the government," he stressed. "Necessary measures to control such activities will be taken in appropriate time."
The party led by Chand has recently intensified extortion campaign, and has been vandalizing vehicles and public properties by calling strikes from time to time.
PM Oli also called out the RPP led by Kamal Thapa for trying to tread the regressive path with the agenda of religion and monarchy. "Some are selling the dream of allowing someone to be a ruler by the virtue of birth in the name of Hindutva," he said. "The people who suffered after carrying the king, who had fled to Delhi in 2007 (BS), on a basket will not repeat that mistake. Necessary measures will be taken to control even such regressive activities."
Thapa had submitted a memorandum letter to PM Oli on Tuesday including 22 points of demands. RPP is starting a Mech-Mahakali campaign from March 2 with the slogan of Hindutva.
PM Oli claimed that the government is working remembering that the election will come again. "Let's not talk about who the people gave majority to. The people have given majority to one party. The party with majority must work with a clear policy remembering that the election will come again."
