Nepali congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Kumar Thapa has asserted that his party has been piling pressure on the incumbent government as a major opposition to keep it in check.
The NC lawmakers protested in the meeting of the House of Representatives today. Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara then gave time to lawmaker Thapa.
Thapa claimed that the government was compelled not to scrap the hospitals established in the name of Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala.
Thapa also warned that none could erase the contributions made by the two former Prime Ministers although the government tried to scrap the hospitals set up with their names.
Furthermore, he satirically thanked the government for ending the hunger strike of Dr Govinda KC without heeding any demands of the protesting orthopaedic surgeon. According to him, the cost for medical education was halved from Rs 10 million due to the movement waged by Dr KC.
He viewed that the people lost confidence over the Prime Minister in lack of implementation of the agreements made between government and the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Stating that the cases of violence and rape had increased in the country, the former Minister said that it has created gloom among the public.
Thapa further claimed that the cases of corruption were also rife at the time when Prime Minister himself had pledged to curb corruption.
