Newly appointed Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana has started to stop malpractices in the judiciary from Thursday itself, the Judicial Council has stated issuing a press statement.
The press statement says a probe committee has been formed by the Judicial Council for minute monitoring and vigilance, and to probe the complaints, and the committee has started to work from Thursday itself with Lalitpur District Court being the first to be monitored.
"Monitoring today was done under leadership of Judicial Council Secretary Nripa Dhwaj Niraula. Monitoring in the coming days will be done even in disguise," the statement adds.
The council, chaired by the CJ, similarly has decided to send Chief Justice of the Surkhet High Court to stop the recent malpractices at the Janakpur High Court.
The first meeting of the council after Rana assumed office as the CJ has also recommended Justice Sukshma Lata Mathema, who is currently serving in the Hetauda bench of the Patan High Court, for the vacant post of chief justice of a High Court. "She has been recommended for the post of chief justice on the basis of seniority, competence and performance," the statement claims.
