Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prasanna Raj Chaudhary of Kailali has been called to the District Police Office for questioning.
He was summoned after making the statement, "We are not Balen's police; we are Nepal Police."
DSP Chaudhary is the chief of the Area Police Office, Sukhad.
SP Narendra Chand of the District Police Office, Kailali, said that Chaudhary will be questioned regarding the statement he made.
According to SP Chand, Chaudhary was called in connection with another matter, but the recent remarks will also be discussed.
"He was called for questioning on a different issue. But since this matter has also come up, we will question him about it as well," Chand said.
He added that the other matter is an internal issue.
Chaudhary made the remarks during an anti-drug awareness program in Darakh, Ghodaghodi Municipality-5.
During the event, he said: "We are not Balen's police; we are Nepal Police. We are the Nepal Police that delivers justice to those facing injustice and oppression. And this is the same police that arrested KP Oli. Therefore, we are Nepal Police."
He also said that they are selected, not elected.
"We are selected, not elected. We didn't come here through votes or by receiving ceremonial tika," he said.
Kailali Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi said that no civil servant should make remarks targeting individuals against professional dignity.
"As public servants, we must adapt to the times," Regmi said. "It is essential to demonstrate a high level of professionalism."
CDO Regmi also said that when remarks made by a civil servant outside of the relevant topic or context become a topic of discussion on social media, it should not be considered inappropriate for higher authorities to summon them for questioning and remind them to exercise greater caution in the future.
