Three people, including the driver, were killed in a jeep accident that occurred in Dailekh around 1 p.m. on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as 36-year-old driver Kal Bahadur Rokaya of Shubhakalika Rural Municipality-5, 39-year-old Mitra Sunar of Shubhakalika-4, and 60-year-old Pultisara BK of Shubhakalika-6 in Kalikot district.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrawan Kumar BK, chief of Dailekh Police, all three were declared dead by doctors during examination after they were taken to Dailekh Hospital around 3:30 p.m.
Among the five others injured in the accident, 45-year-old Nain Sunar of Shubhakalika-4 and 27-year-old Sumat BK of Shubhakalika-6 are being referred to Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet for further treatment.
The remaining injured – 38-year-old Chakra Sunar of Shubhakalika-4, 20-year-old Bharat BK of Shubhakalika-6, and 26-year-old Kalam Sunar of Shubhakalika-5 – are also in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at Dailekh District Hospital.
The accident involved a double-cab Bolero jeep with registration number Su Pa 01001 Cha 4964, which was traveling from Surkhet to Kalikot. The jeep fell nearly 400 meters off a cliff along an inner road section at Kali Gaunda in Bhairavi Rural Municipality-7, Dailekh.
The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Monday. Seven men and one woman were traveling in the vehicle.
The injured were initially taken to a local health facility for first aid before being referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
