Balkrishna Adhikari has been appointed as the editor of Nagarik Daily.
The publishing house, Nepal Republic Media, accepted the resignation of Chief Editor Gunaraj Luitel and appointed Adhikari as the new editor.
Adhikari said that he assumed responsibility starting Thursday.
The 42-year-old Adhikari, who holds a master’s degree in mass communication and journalism, has been active in journalism for over two decades.
He began his journalism career in 2002 with the Yugvani Weekly. After working for various weekly publications, he spent a long tenure at Naya Patrika. He then worked at Saurya daily before joining Nagarik in 2012.
Most recently, Adhikari served as the chief of the political and social bureau at Nagarik. He has also previously served as a board member of the Press Council Nepal and as the president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Corporate Province Committee.
