The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has also arrested Prabhu Bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mani Ram Pokhrel and Chief Credit Officer (CCO) Riwas Shrestha.
On Sunday, the CIB arrested three officials from Prabhu Bank.
Along with the bank’s CEO Ashok Sherchan, Pokhrel and Shrestha were also arrested, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Shiva Kumar Shrestha.
They were being investigated on charges of fraud, criminal breach of trust, and violations of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act.
They are accused of causing loss to Prabhu Bank by acting against Nepal Rastra Bank’s directives and existing laws, and of misusing tens of millions of rupees by disbursing loans in the names of various companies to conceal the crime.
Police said that arrest warrants against them were obtained from the Patan High Court for offenses under the Banking Offense and Punishment Act.
